The book ‘Florida Sweets’ shares a part of what makes this state a sweet culinary destination. From the Redneck Rivera to the Conch Republic, Florida Sweets is a book sharing some of what Jack and I found when we started our quest for sweetness. It began around May of last year and we finished this past February… we couldn’t cover everything, but we ate a lot of delicious desserts and met some really sweet people along the way.
Not a cookbook but more of a travel guide to the sweet places in Florida. Recipes in the book include:
Flamingo Pink Lime Pie – from Easy Breezy Florida Cooking;
Granny’s Fig preserves from my dad’s mother;
Laurelyn’s Peanut Butter Balls from my sister-in-law;
Flan from my friend Lisa’s mother;
Strawberry Shortcake using Plant City strawberries;
and Carolyn’s Tasty Florida Citrus Pie from my sister-in-law.
My retired Army Ranger brother Pat shares some of his wit and wisdom about eating Florida Sweets, as a PS from Pat, at the end of each chapter and he wrote most of the dedication about our father. His wife is Carolyn.
