Joy of Homemaking
“The Romance of Cookery and Housekeeping” might seem oxymoronic but I majored in Home Economics, at Florida State University, before it was known as Family and Consumer Science, because I wanted to learn all there was to know about homemaking. The Home Economist of the past paved the way for working women today by helping to establish and develop time-saving measures, sanitation education, and labor-saving devices. All those years I worked outside the home were gratifying and I am so lucky to have had the experiences of being a teacher, marketing specialist, restaurateur and author, but my role as a housewife and a mother has always been the most rewarding. My Hillbilly husband Jack is from West Virginia, our son Jackson is a Florida Cracker and now I am collecting and creating recipes that reflect their heritage.
